Summer Garden Party
It’s year four now, so you know the drill: barbecued delights in the beautiful grounds of the Anglo-German Club if the weather is nice, curries upstairs if it isn’t. The scores to date: BBQ 1, Curries 2. Sign-up using the events app.
For our first genuinely sporty event, we have secured the use of 10 stand-up paddling boards and the attentions of one stand-up paddling trainer for the evening of Friday, 7th June. Why not join us for this after-work outing on the Alster (or perhaps more of an inning…)? Use the events app to (not particularly) secure your place.
The location couldn’t be more apt: we’ll be watching this year’s epic Thames contest (Sunday, 7th April) between our two venerable institutions in the suitably boat-y surroundings of the Alster-side Norddeutscher Regatta Verein, starting with a lunch buffet at 1pm (races at 3:20pm and 4:20pm CET). E-mail sign-up here, please.
Join us on Thursday, 21st March for an after-work tour of Hamburg’s Museum of Arts and Crafts (Museum Kunst und Gewerbe, MKG) on the wide-ranging topic of European and Asian power-centres in the 16th to 18th centuries. Use the app to register.
Dinner with the Consul
It will be our very great honour to host the Honorary Consul of the United Kingdom in Hamburg, Nicholas Teller, for a formal dinner on 20th February. The Consul will deliver a short after-dinner speech and is looking forward to meeting our members personally. Sign up via the app to attend.
After two years in which we kept up the wintry north German tradition, we will once again be taking to a long, straight road near Hamburg for strolling and bowling accompanied by piles of steaming kale and back-straightening schnaps. The event will take place on Sunday 3rd February; sign up by app or e-mail for details.
